Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism - Stakeholders

The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism marks the University of Oxford's commitment to creating an international research centre in the comparative study of journalism. Anchored in the recognition of the key role of independent media in open societies and the power of information in the modern world, the Institute aims to serve as the leading forum for a productive engagement between scholars from a wide range of disciplines and the practitioners of journalism.

Established in 2006, the Institute is based at the Department of Politics and International Relations  at the University of Oxford . It brings the depth and rigour of academic scholarship of the highest standards to major issues of relevance to the world of news media. It is global in its perspective and in the content of its activities. Core funding for the Institute is provided by the Thomson Reuters Foundation .

Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) - Stakeholders

The Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organisation founded by the Danish School of Journalism, USAID/IREX Pro Media and the Macedonian Press Centre in 2001. The Institute has gradually grown into a massive media platform in Macedonia, encompassing into its professional network the bulk of the media outlets in the country. MIM enables free and easy access to media literature, up-to-date resources for professional development and education, media research and analyses as well as opportunities for joint production. The Institute is a founder of the School of Journalism and Public Relations, an educational institution accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science, offering graduate and postgraduate studies in journalism and communication sciences.

MIM is committed to building a democratic society dominated by professional media, transparent and accountable institutions and civil sector which provides the citizens with sufficient and reliable information for making an informed decision on issues relevant to the society.

Mission:

The mission of the Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM) is to encourage and continuously support the development of professional standards in journalism, media and public communication, aiming to support the improvement of the democratic processes in the Republic Macedonia.

MEDIADEM - Stakeholders

MEDIADEM was a European research project lasted from April 2010 to March 2013 focusing on the factors that promote or conversely prevent the development of policies supporting free and independent media.

The project combined a country-based study in Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and the UK with a comparative analysis across media sectors and various types of media services. It investigated the configuration of media policies in the aforementioned countries and examined the opportunities and challenges generated by new media services for media freedom and independence. Moreover, external pressures on the design and implementation of state media policies, stemming from the European Union and the Council of Europe, are thoroughly discussed and analysed.

The coordinator of the project has been the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy.

Index on Censorship - Stakeholders

Index on Censorship is an international organisation that promotes and defends the right to freedom of expression. Founded in 1972 to publish the untold stories of dissidents behind the Iron Curtain, today Index uses a combination of journalism, campaigning and advocacy to defend freedom of expression for those facing censorship and repression, including journalists, writers, social media users, bloggers, artists, politicians, scientists, academics, activists and citizens.

Index runs several projects on media freedom and provides practical support for journalists and media practitioners under threat.

Deutsche Welle Akademie - Stakeholders

DW Akademie is the media development branch of Deutsche Welle. DW Akademie supports the development of free and transparent media, and quality journalism by offering programs to boost media skills.
Moreover, produces reports and analyses on media developement to foster debate among research, NGOs and government bodies.

Ethical Journalism Network - Stakeholders

The Ethical Journalism Network promotes ethics, good governance and independent regulation of media content. The EJN was formed in 2011 as a unifying professional campaign bringing together owners, editors and media staff to strengthen the craft of journalism.

Journalismfund.eu - Stakeholders

Journalismfund.eu, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to advancing investigative and independent journalism across Europe. It ultimately serves the public interest, furthers accountability as well as transparency, and contributes to critical thinking and well-informed debate.

Journalismfund.eu provides practical support for journalists. 

European Journalism Centre - Stakeholders

The European Journalism Centre (EJC) is an independent, international, non- profit foundation dedicated to the highest standards in journalism, inter alis through the further training of journalists and media professionals. Building on its extensive international network, the Centre operates as a facilitator and partner in a wide variety of journalism-related projects.

Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) - Stakeholders

The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) consists of individual member-organisations, registered in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. As a group of editors and trainers, BIRN enables journalists in the region to produce in-depth analytical and investigative journalism on complex political, economic and social themes. Through the production of Balkan Insight, BIRN`s online publication, the network trains local and regional journalists, demanding the highest international standards. BIRN emerged from the Balkan programme of the London-based Institute for War & Peace Reporting, IWPR, in 2005.

Press Council in Bosnia-Herzegovina - Stakeholders

The Press Coucil BiH is a self-regulatory body for print and online media, whose aim is to mediate between unsatisfied media readers, and print and online media as well as to supervise the application of the BH Press Code. Furthermore, it contributes to improve professional standards in print and online media of Bosnia-Herzegovina in order to protect public from unprofessional and manipulative journalistic reporting and media from political and economical pressures that jeopardize freedom of informing and freedom of media.

The complaints commission, which operates as an adivory body within the Association, considers monitoring results and public complaints about the writings of media in BiH. It monitors the implementation of the Press Code of BiH in all newspapers and publically reacts to breaches of ethical journalism standards foreseen by the Press Code of BiH.
